Rapid English uses a Citrix-based file sharing application called ‘Sharefile’ in order to deliver software and support materials.

STEP 1 - Click on the download link in your email.

NOTE - You will need to enter some basic information before downloading

You will see two files:
Communication Course – containing the software
Necessary Support software – containing supporting software and documents which may help with your installation.

STEP 2 - Select both folders and click download.

STEP 3 - Double click on the “RE.msi” file contained in the downloaded “Communication Course” folder to begin the installation.

NOTE – Older Windows operating systems, such as XP and Vista, may require you to manually extract the folders prior to starting the installation.

For security purposes, software download links expire after a month. Get back in touch with your account manager to request a new link.

by Rapid English on August 6th, 2015

Rapid English sends out an email containing a download link and licence key to your organisation's chosen IT point of contact prior to your first day of training. Certified Rapid English practitioners can contact their account manager, or our head office on info@rapidenglish.com, in order to request a new download link.

Java must be installed on your computer before installing the software. You can access a version of Java in your ‘Necessary Support Software’ folder.

by Rapid English on August 6th, 2015

The software can be installed onto most Windows-based desktop or laptop computers.

Minimum specifications are as follows:

1 GB RAM (+)
1 GHz processor (+)
50GB of Hard Disk space
8-bit sound card (+) with recording capability

by Rapid English on August 6th, 2015

We recommend leaving a minimum of 50GB of free space on your hard disk in order to guarantee effective software performance.

Individual modules within the Communication Course can be transferred onto iPads via Dropbox of ITunes. However, our recommendation for giving leaners the full, immersive Rapid English experience is to deliver the full program via a desktop or laptop computer.

Rapid English releases occasional updates.

We do contact our project partners if an update becomes available. A new download link will be sent over to our IT point of contact for the project. The most straight forward way to update your software is to uninstall Rapid English and re-install it using the latest version (no learner data will be lost).

Your licence is valid on a site-licence basis. The licence terms are set out as part of your initial quote.

For security purposes, Rapid English sets a maximum download limit of 10 downloads. The link will expire after the 10th download. Contact your account manager if you wish to receive a fresh download link.

by Rapid English on August 6th, 2015

The project is delivered under an annual licence. The software expiry is visible in the top left corner of your ‘list of students’ page.

by Rapid English on August 6th, 2015

Licence expiry - This usually means that your Rapid English project licence has expired. In this case, contact your Rapid English account manager for a renewal quote. A new licence key can be made available to your organisation as soon as a renewal invoice has been dispatched.

NOTE – A pop-up box will appear when you first open Rapid English 30 days prior to your licence expiry, letting you know that the licence is due to expire.

Old or corrupted licence – If you feel that your licence should still be active, it may be a result of a corrupted licence key. Contact us to receive a fresh licence code which can be inputted into your software.

by Rapid English on August 6th, 2015

The security code is required when updating the licence. Your security code will be made available to you as part of our standard licence update email.

Contact us at info@rapidenglish.com if you cannot locate your licence upgrade email.

by Rapid English on August 6th, 2015

You will be prompted to enter your licence key the first time you open the software. No further prompts will be required until your licence is due for renewal.

Moving leaner information around depends slightly on your chosen installation model. Take the time to read the Rapid English installation guide. It outlines 3 different deployment models.

Networked set up
Archive function - If you are using networked options 2 or 3, click ‘archive’ next to the learner you wish to share. This uploads the learner’s information to a shared network location. To access shared learners, click in the “Archived Students” button above of your list of students. Click ‘retrieve’ to download this learner to your local machine.

Manual
For every learner who is set up on your computer, a folder is created on the C: drive.

E.g. C:/Rapid English Communication Course/Rapid English Students/Students/Joe Bloggs

This folder can be copied out of this computer’s folder and pasted into the equivalent folder of another machine where Rapid English has been installed. This learner will appear in the list of students on the new computer when it is next opened.

No microphone - The most common cause is that no microphone has been plugged in to your computer. If this is the case, close down Rapid English, plug in your microphone, and then re-open the software.

Old or disabled soundcard – Some older soundcards do not have a recording function, or the recording function may have been disabled by your IT department.

by Rapid English on August 6th, 2015

This may be caused by a system crash. Closing and re-opening the software should resolve this problem. Contact us if the issue persists.

by Rapid English on August 6th, 2015

This relates to an issue where another piece of software has installed a conflicting “Libeay32.dll” or “SSLeay32.dll” in the dynamic link library located in the c:\windows\System32 folder on your computer. Rapid English is aware of a computer mouse that conflicts with the software.

        SSLeay32.dll
Libeay32.dll

Removing the files above from the “system32” folder should solve the issue, but please we recommend that you don't delete these original files in the meantime, but simply copy them out of your System32 folder, into a known location.

by Rapid English on August 6th, 2015

Whilst the Communication Course has been deployed successfully on virtualised platforms by some project partners, Rapid English software has not been tested for virtualised settings, and we take no responsibility for the final deployment model. Some project partners have reported issues around data loss and data corruption.

NOTE – please note that wide-ranging installation of Rapid English software across an organisation may lead to a breach of your Rapid English licence. Please consult with your Rapid English account manager before proceeding with this.

I conducted a home visit to L's address last night.  When I arrived she was lying ill on the sofa and her family (unlike other times) were very welcoming of me.  L spoke that evening of how much she enjoys Rapid English and that she can' t believe how much it is helping her.  L is very vocal and would be honest if she did not like it.  I discussed with L the high quality work she did with Gloria and Norman last week and (with her permission) discussed with her family the nice things she had written about them.  Her mum was really pleased and since this provision, is a lot more engaged with me and YOT in general.  I just wanted to thank  Gloria for the patience she has shown with L as I have really struggled to engage her and due to this provision I feel we are really making some headway with her.

The Rapid English Training was very interesting, positive and useful. It was pitched well so it moved quickly enough that we covered plenty of ground without feeling overwhelmed. I enjoyed learning how to use the Program as it will clearly benefit so many of the young people I work with. This training will help us to offer a much needed support for our most disengaged young people without requiring them to engage with mainstream educational settings or make long commitments.
